Destination Copenhagen: The Tivoli Garden

The Tivoli Garden is the most famous and impressive amusement park in Denmark and one of the oldest in the world.

From 170 years, is the beating heart of Copenhagen and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Denmark. Much more than a center of outdoor fun, a real urban institution, the icon and the meeting point of the city, the place that, more than any other represents the playful and carefree soul of Danes.

It was opened in 1843 by the entrepreneur Georg Carstensen, who convinced the King Christian VIII to granting land use on the stretch of the former city walls for the project, arguing that "when people enjoy don't think about politics."

At the time of building this immense green area (82,000 m2) was out of town. Following the expansion, the Park area today is located right in the heart of Copenhagen, close to the central station and not far from the Town Hall.

The original name of the Park was Tivoli and Vauxhall, in homage, respectively, the Italian Park of Villa d'Este in Tivoli, the Italian town near Rome, and to the garden of leisure of Vauxhall in London. Rich in fountains and ponds, characterized by lush flora, the Park has always been a work sui generis, halfway between the historic monument and nature attraction, without forgetting, of course, the recreational component.

At the time of its opening to the public there were gardens, cafes, restaurants, Oriental-style buildings, a concert hall, a theatre, two mechanical rides: a carousel and a wooden roller coaster (the second version of the latter dated 1913 still exists). Today many structures have remained the same even though, obviously, over the years the Tivoli has been enriched by numerous attractions from luna park, retaining the charm of yesteryear.

The monumental nineteenth-century arched entrance welcomes visitors that as soon as it passes, is immersed in a fantastic setting, an oasis of calm and relaxation, amidst beautiful gardens, attractions, musical performances, theatrical performances (unique the theatre of pantomime with the curtain in the shape of a Peacock tail), fireworks and a multitude of restaurants to satisfy every taste.

Don't miss the Tivoli Boys Guard parade, a guard consisting of 109 boys aged between 9 and 16 years with his own band; the largest saltwater Aquarium in Europe; the Glass Hall Theatre; the Den Fyvend Kuffrt, the attraction that leads into the world of fairy tales by Andersen.

An enchanted place, especially in the evening when more than 100,000 colored bulbs light up the Park, a journey through time between history and modernity, a wonderful world suspended between past and future.

Born in Riccione, a seaside town on the Italian coast of the Adriatic Sea. Of Italian father and a Russian mother, I always define myself a crossroads of cultures, in fact I never identified with a nationality, considering myself a real world citizen.
From the early years of life I've traveled, living periods of time abroad, experiences that have further increased my openness towards the new and the different, and the ability to think outside the box.
I'm graduated Expert for Tourism, and continued hmy studies with a Masters Degree in Economics and Management. During and after the studies, I had a multitude of different jobs, mostly oriented towards tourism (my true passion, together with art and opera). Since 2008 I lives in Milan, working in the finance department of an Italian multinational company.
My passion for culture, led me to found in 2013, Kitabu, a publishing house specializing in the publication of books in electronic format, with which in 2015 I launched various projects regarding web-based magazines about different cultural and leisure themes, on of wich is TravelTv.
Despite the many commitments, however, I've never stopped traveling extensively the world, trying in every place to identify myself with the local population.
